About Dr. Layton


Richard E. Layton, M.D. practices specialized pediatrics, allergy and preventative medicine. Dr. Layton has discovered that allergies are the underlying cause of a wide variety of medical problems in adults and children of all ages.

With over 40 years experience in pediatrics and integrated medicine, Dr. Layton has achieved recognition for his successful treatment of children from across the United States with learning, behavior, and developmental problems caused by allergies and nutritional deficiencies. Since 1987, Dr. Layton has operated his own practice in Towson, Maryland. He previously specialized in pediatrics and allergies at Valley Pediatric Associates from 1972 to 1987. Dr. Layton has been an attending physician at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland since 1972.

Dr. Layton received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Richmond in 1965 and his M.D. degree from the Medical College of Virginia in 1969. He interned at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida from 1969 to 1970. In 1970, he was recognized as Outstanding Intern in Pediatrics. From 1970-1972, Dr. Layton served as a Resident and Chief Resident in pediatrics at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore.

Dr. Layton works with several prominent professional organizations, including the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy, the Baltimore City Medical Society, the Medical and Chirurgical Faculty of Maryland, the American Academy of Environmental Medicine and Defeat Autism Now. Dr. Layton frequently lectures on his expertise in the field of allergic medicine to professional organizations, school associations, parenting groups, and support groups.
